Martell Creates Serpentine Bottle To Commemorate 2025 Year Of The Snake

Martell is slithering into the Lunar New Year, with 2025 being the Year of the Snake, by crafting the L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent—a limited-edition cognac with only 500 individually numbered bottles to exist.
The sensory journey begins with the liquid’s rich amber hue, glinting with mahogany highlights. On the nose, the cognac unveils delicate citrus and soft spices, giving way to a swirl of tobacco, cedar, and walnut. The palate follows with a velvety smoothness layered with bold citrus and fruitier notes of blackcurrant and quince marmalade, all underscored by lingering wood and roasted tobacco aromas. Like the snake itself, the flavor evolves gracefully, combining finesse and intensity in equal measure.

Inspired by the mysticism and qualities of the reptile—its courage, wisdom, and care—Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud has created a blend that honors both tradition and innovation. Drawing on very old eaux-de-vie from past Years of the Snake, Valtaud harmonized these with L’Or de Jean Martell’s original composition, a medley of over 1,400 eaux-de-vie from Cognac’s four most distinguished terroirs. The result is a cognac that embodies 300 years of expertise and an exceptional mastery of aging.

Maison Martell’s collaboration with Baccarat elevates this edition to a work of art. The decanter, designed to mirror a single drop of cognac, is crowned with a red crystal serpent’s head and encased in 19-carat gold engraved with a snakeskin motif.
Each bottle rests on a gold-tone pedestal adorned with intricate scales, presented in a red cabinet featuring interlaced snakeskin patterns.

Martell’s Zodiac Edition continues its tradition of celebrating the Chinese New Year. Beyond its craftsmanship, the Assemblage du Serpent pays tribute to the deep cultural ties between Martell and China. Drawing inspiration from Nüwa, the ancient Chinese goddess credited with mending the sky and shaping humanity, this release embodies a blend of mythology and heritage. L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent will be available just in time for the Lunar New Year in 2025.
