‘Times New Ramen’, An Appetizing Free Font Cooked Up From Real Noodles

Hungry for inspiration? Here’s an instant hit! Seine Kongruangkit, a senior art director originally from Bangkok and now based in Chicago, has created Times New Ramen, a typeface crafted entirely from instant noodles.


By carefully shaping ramen strands into letters, photographing them, and refining them digitally, Kongruangkit has turned a pantry staple into a fully functional font. Needless to say, creatives on LinkedIn are eating it up.

For those looking to add a bit of umami to their projects, each character in Times New Ramen carries an unmistakable strand of cup noodles, making it a delectably rich choice for branding, posters, and menu designs. The typeface was inspired by the timelessness of ramen packaging designs, and one might imagine it’ll stay fresh for years to come.
