Apple Rolls Out Colorful, Free Wallpapers To Celebrate Japan Store Opening

You don’t need to be in Japan to get a piece of Apple’s newest store launch. To celebrate the opening of the Umeda retail outfit in Osaka on Saturday, July 26, the tech giant has introduced a fresh set of downloadable wallpapers designed for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The digital artwork reimagines the Apple logo through a colorful, geometric lens, incorporating layered textures and gradients that nod to both Umeda’s busy urban vibe and Japan’s vibrant culture. There’s a vertical format for iPhones, a wider layout for Macs, and a proportional design for iPads.

Apple Umeda, located in the Grand Front Osaka complex, marks the company’s first retail presence in the district and its second in the city after Shinsaibashi. The store is expected to offer the full Apple experience, including hands-on product demos, workshops through Today at Apple, and technical support via the Genius Bar. It also represents one of the first launches in Apple’s larger plan to open or renovate 50 stores around the world by 2027.

The wallpapers are available to download globally, giving users thousands of miles away a small way to join in on the fun.
