What if you took the finest traits of your hotel notepad and made it digital? reMarkable has shrunk its large-format tablet into something closer to a paperback, launching the Paper Pro Move as a compact companion for writing, sketching, and reading without the clutter of apps or notifications.
The Paper Pro Move keeps the essence of what has made the Norwegian company’s tablets distinctive: a distraction-free, tactile writing experience. The device sports a 7.3-inch Canvas Color E Ink display, weighs just 230 grams, and measures a slim 6.5 millimeters in thickness. Compared to last year’s 11.8-inch Paper Pro, it is notably lighter and easier to slip into a bag or even a coat pocket.

Despite its smaller frame, the Move uses the same Gallery 3 color e-ink display found in the larger model, offering 264 pixels per inch. The dual-core 1.7 GHz processor is more modest than the Paper Pro’s, but the tablet still promises two weeks of battery life.

Storage remains fixed at 64 GB, and users can choose between the standard Marker stylus or the pricier Marker Plus, which adds an eraser function.

The Move supports handwriting-to-text conversion, document annotation, and ePub compatibility, tools familiar to users. Customizable toolbars and a responsive interface help streamline workflow, while syncing with the company’s Connect platform ensures access to notes across devices.

With that, it does have limits compared with multipurpose tablets. For one, there’s no app store. Its front light is also dimmer than some rivals, and advanced integrations like Slack or mobile editing require a US$2.99 monthly subscription after a trial period.
All told, the tablet shines in its simplicity. At just over half a pound, the Move is made to fit neatly into daily life without feeling like another gadget competing for attention. It mimics pen and paper with its textured screen, a design choice that appeals to writers, students, and professionals who want to focus on ideas rather than be distracted by social feeds.
