IKEA Supercharges Everyday Living With Affordable, Interconnected Smart Gadgets
IKEA is turning the lights on for a smarter, simpler future. The Swedish retailer has brought in 21 new smart-home products, all built to work with the Matter standard, to make connected homes easier to build, control, and supercharge.
More than just a collection of lights and plugs, the selection redraws the furniture giant’s existing smart-home ecosystem from the bottom up, based on years of real-home testing and a deeper understanding of how people actually live. That includes new lighting options, updated sensors, and flexible control tools.

The lineup covers three main categories: lighting, sensors and control. The lighting segment introduces the KAJPLATS smart-bulb range with 11 variations offering colour and white-spectrum options in multiple shapes and sizes. The sensor category features motion, air-quality, humidity and water-leakage detectors.

As for control, there are remotes like the BILRESA models and the GRILLPLATS smart plug that transforms old lamps or appliances into smart devices.

One crucial piece that ties it all is the DIRIGERA hub, now certified as a Matter controller. That means it can manage Matter devices from other brands, and also serve as a bridge for older IKEA (non-Matter) smart products. This reinforces interoperability rather than locking customers into a single ecosystem.

Importantly, affordability and simplicity are threaded through the rollout.
“Until now, smart home technology hasn’t been easy enough to use for most people—or affordable enough for many to consider, ” notes David Granath, range manager at IKEA of Sweden. “This launch brings us closer to helping everyone feel ready and confident to get started.”
