IKEA Trots Out Bold Red Flair & Lucky Symbols For Year Of The Horse

Horses are known for their kick of energy, and IKEA’s latest seasonal drop seems keen to trot in with the same spirit. The furniture giant’s 2026 FÖSSTA collection is riding into stores for Lunar New Year with décor and homeware that lean into tradition while keeping one horseshoe firmly in modern living.
IKEA has launched its FÖSSTA 2026 collection to mark the Lunar New Year, which runs from January 15 to February 15, 2026. This year’s designs revolve around the Year of the Horse, blending Scandinavian simplicity with symbols drawn from Chinese culture.

The range covers festive décor, tableware, textiles, and live plants, aimed at helping households prepare for reunion dinners, visits from relatives, and the quieter rituals of the season.

The horse motif sits at the center of the collection, chosen for what it represents in the Chinese zodiac: vitality, movement, and success. That theme appears across cushion covers, doormats, reusable shopping bags, and decorative pieces. Red lanterns and LED table lights set a warm tone, while tableware is marked with playful goldfish designs, a long-standing symbol of abundance and prosperity. The dominant palette of red, black, and white reflects colors traditionally linked with luck and fresh beginnings.

Several items are designed to work both as festive accents and everyday objects. Lantern-style lights can sit on dining tables during reunion meals and later move into living rooms or bedrooms. Cushions and textiles use soft colors and simple shapes so they do not feel limited to a single season. IKEA has released FÖSSTA collections in previous years, but the 2026 version continues its focus on making cultural references usable in ordinary spaces rather than as one-off decorations.
