Daniel’s Room Is Arsham’s Vision of A Restaurant That’s Also Living Artwork

Art and architecture are spilling out of galleries and onto your plate over at Daniel’s Room, a new restaurant concept in Dubai that bears the imprint of contemporary artist Daniel Arsham.
Located within the vast Dubai Mall, one of the world’s busiest retail destinations, Daniel’s Room marks one of Arsham’s first forays into hospitality design. The space, which serves specialty coffee, light bites, and pastries, was crafted by the New York–based artist with an eye toward making every aspect of the restaurant feel intentional and artistic, spanning furniture choices to architectural details and curated objects on display.
Arsham, known for his sculptural practice and design work through the collaborative firm Snarkitecture, has spent much of his career exploring the intersections of art, architecture, and everyday materials. His aesthetic often evokes traces of imagined archaeological relics and alternate histories, and here that sensibility informs the dining environment as much as the menu offerings.

Images from the venue show spaces where sculptural elements and bespoke furniture sit alongside plated items, reinforcing the idea that the restaurant itself is part gallery and part eatery. Exclusive tableware and limited-edition books appear among the design touches.
“This restaurant has been a dream in progress for years, and it’s finally opening,” Arsham expressed in a statement. “I designed every detail of the space, from the furniture to the plates, glasses, and spoons. I spent months developing and testing the menu as well, from the coffee to every pastry and cake. Nothing here is by accident.”
