Philadelphia Cream Cheese is spreading the love a little thicker this year. After more than a century in refrigerators, the brand is giving itself a fresh coat of dairy polish, as well as introducing a new face to help carry the torch.
The Kraft Heinz-owned staple has unveiled Really Philly Good, a new brand platform designed to place Philadelphia as more than just a bagel companion. The effort leans into the brand’s dairy roots while nudging eaters to see it as a go-to ingredient for everyday cooking.
The face of the campaign is ‘Phillyboy’, a character who personifies the journey from farm to fridge, popping up wherever a dish could use a creamy assist.

Titled The Adventures of the Phillyboy, the spots, crafted by NYC creative agency Johannes Leonardo, focus on accessible meals like scrambled eggs, pesto pasta, chili dip, and the ever-reliable bagel. In each scenario, Phillyboy arrives at just the right moment, adding a spoonful (or schmear) of Philadelphia to demonstrate how a familiar ingredient can shift a dish from routine to, as the tagline puts it, “Really Philly Good.”
The push marks the brand’s first major creative update since 2021 and represents its largest marketing investment to date. Media placements stretch across traditional television, streaming and connected TV, YouTube, social platforms, audio, and creator partnerships. The campaign also includes premium integrations with The Bachelorette and The New York Times, alongside influencer activity on TikTok, Meta, and Pinterest, hoping to encourage younger home cooks forming new habits in the kitchen.

While Philadelphia has long been associated with bagels and cheesecake, the new identity highlights its versatility in dishes ranging from pasta and potatoes to soups and dips. The brand points to its scale—over 131 million US households stock Philadelphia—and its daily sales volume, which includes hundreds of thousands of bricks and tubs sold each day, as evidence of its entrenched presence in American kitchens.
Additionally, Philadelphia is partnering with Allrecipes to introduce a personalized, AI-powered meal planning tool on Allrecipes.com. The feature aims to help consumers discover new ways to incorporate cream cheese into weeknight meals as a simple, reliable addition. The move comes as research cited by the brand shows that nearly 75% of Gen Z and Millennials feel pressed for time when cooking, and 60% report lacking confidence in the kitchen.

“With Really Philly Good, Philadelphia is reclaiming what has always set the brand apart—really good dairy—and demonstrating how the same quality people trust for their bagels and cheesecake, can elevate everyday meals too,” suggests Angie Madigan, vice president of elevation marketing at The Kraft Heinz Company.
“This platform is about reintroducing Philadelphia as an everyday cooking staple, not just a spread, that makes cooking feel easier, gives people more confidence in the kitchen, and ultimately makes meals more delicious. We’re excited to introduce Phillyboy and let him make his mark—showing up on TV screens, social feeds, and potentially in a few kitchens along the way—in his quest to help people everywhere make any dish Really Philly Good,” Madigan continues.
Lex Beltrone, executive creative director at Johannes Leonardo, views the character as both literal and symbolic. “Everyone knows the product Philadelphia. When it comes to cream cheese, it’s synonymous with the category. Our new brand platform Really Philly Good encourages people to make good food even better by transforming it with Philadelphia.”
“Our new brand character, Phillyboy, brings people Philadelphia cream cheese just in time to improve whatever they’re making,” Beltrone further notes. “He’s a physical embodiment of the brand—he’s a friendly, cool and confident dairy expert, and his arrival is a welcomed surprise. A metaphor for the welcome but unexpected surprise of just how good Philly is in just about everything.”

Johannes Leonardo led strategy and production for the campaign, with PR handled by Zeno Group, paid media by Carat, and social by The Kitchen. With Phillyboy now stepping into the spotlight, Philadelphia is betting that a familiar ingredient, given a bit of personality, can find a schmear of fresh relevance in a new generation’s kitchens.
