Cash App has given tap-to-pay a little abracadabra with Cash App Tags, a new line of NFC-enabled payment accessories that let users make purchases from their Cash balance without pulling out a phone or card. And first up is the Cash App Wand, a pearlescent charm that looks more like something you clip to a bag just for the vibes.

The Wand is launching as a limited-edition release for Cash App Card holders, available through the app while supplies last. Priced at US$25 plus applicable sales tax, it marks the first design in what Cash App says will become a wider range of Tags arriving in limited drops before wider availability later this summer.

With this lineup, payments do not have to disappear into phones, wallets, and pockets. Tags are a more visible way to make a transaction, aimed especially at users who treat everyday accessories as part of their personal style.

The Wand arrives with a keychain, so it can be attached to a bag, worn, or carried around for quick tap-to-pay moments.

That could come in handy in places where grabbing a phone is awkward or not allowed, such as phone-free venues, concerts, festivals, or busy checkout lines. Instead of fishing through a bag for a card or unlocking a device, users can tap the Tag at any place that accepts Visa contactless payments.

“While digital wallets are invisible and physical cards are often buried in wallets, Cash App Tags are just the opposite,” said Thomas Templeton, Hardware Lead at Block. “We see a unique opportunity here to make payments visible and social for the first time. Early testers have told us that they’ve loved carrying the Wand and showing it off at checkout, so we believe there’s a real appetite for this among our customers.”

Cash App is also leaning into the way younger users have turned everyday objects into identity markers, from wired headphones to film cameras and collectible accessories. According to a Cash App survey conducted in November 2025, 38% of Gen Z consumers said they buy collectibles, accessories, or limited-edition items at least once a month, more than any other generation surveyed.

The Tag connects to a customer’s Cash App Card and can be managed inside the app. Once activated, it draws from the same Cash balance and carries the same basic controls, including transaction notifications, fraud monitoring, and the ability to lock, unlock, or deactivate the Tag. Cash App says there are no minimum balance or activity requirements, and the accessory is available to eligible customers ages 13 and up.

The Wand is only the opening trick. Cash App says more Tag formats are coming, with Templeton noting that the technology could eventually be built into items like clothing or jewelry.
