Samsung’s Working On Letting You Fetch Your Password Using Your Palm

By Yoon Sann Wong, 04 Dec 2017

If fingerprint scanning, iris scanning, and facial recognition aren’t enough, fret not because Samsung seems to be working on a new type of biometric identification technique: palm-scanning.

In its recent patent application, Samsung delves into scanning palm prints to help users retrieve forgotten passwords. Instead of having the password simply appear onscreen, the proposition involves hiding certain letters in the lines of the palm. These incomplete characters should give the user enough hints to help him or her recall the password without being too obvious.

This method, which comes over and above PIN and pattern-based passwords, could possibly be extended to unlocking the phone or verifying Samsung Pay in future.
