its largest outlet ever—and it channels the vibes of a ‘Willy Wonka’ chocolate factory but for coffee.
The Starbucks Reserve Roastery Shanghai
that opens on 5 December is a whopping 30,000 square feet.
will be under the watchful eye of former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. The 88-foot coffee bar was handcrafted by Chinese artisans and will be the longest Starbucks coffee bar in the world.
As soon as
you walk in, you will see a towering two-story, 40-ton, hand-engraved copper cask that replenishes the coffee silos throughout the shop.
whip out your smartphone and point at key features in the shop, you can undergo the first-ever Starbucks augmented reality experience, with prompts explaining precisely where those beans in your cup originated from.

is the first of five Roasteries that are expected to open before 2020. The remaining Roasteries are slated to open in Milan and New York in 2018, as well as in Tokyo and Chicago come 2019.
