Step aside, Apple Park: Microsoft might give you a run for your money even before Siri can pronounce ‘A⍰’.

The tech giant will be opening more Windows for opportunity for its 2,000 employees by transforming its 32-acre Mountain View location into an eco-friendly “campus of the future.”

The campus will be Microsoft’s “smartest, greenest office yet.” To harvest creativity and teamwork, it will feature a neighborhood and courtyard concept that lets employees easily transit from indoor to outdoor spaces for brainstorming sessions.

The company also hopes the buildings will benefit and revitalize their natural surroundings. They will sit under a four-acre living roof that promotes diversification of species in the area, as well as harvest rainwater onsite.

“100 percent of the buildings’ non‑drinking water will come from rainfall or on-site recycled water,” explains Pauline Souza, a partner at WRNS Studio Architecture & Planning. “This will be a first in Silicon Valley, and it shows a commitment to innovation and sustainability.”
