Elle Brazil is paying tribute to art history in five covers for its special December 2017 issue, set to arrive on newsstands come Monday.

The magazine has drawn inspiration from Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and David Hockney’s ‘Joiners’ series to remake five well-recognized works of art using real models.

The individuals featured inside the photos are central figures to Brazilian culture including actress Sonia Braga for the Mona Lisa cover, actors Tais Araujo and Lázaro Ramos for The Kiss, model Lea T for Birth of Venus, stage actor José Celso Martinez Corrêa for The Scream, and composer Caetano Veloso for Hockney’s ‘Joiners’ series.

This isn’t the first time creatives have recreated Gustav Klimt’s works using real people. In September, DesignTAXI brought to you Austrian artist-cum-photographer Inge Prader’s remake of Klimt’s gold paintings as a gilded photo series.
