Apple’s latest version
of its operating system contains a bug that is capable of crashing devices.
First reported by
Italian site Mobile World
, the bug appears when someone sends a character from Telugu, an Indian language. Once received, whatever app you are using will crash.
AdvertisementFrom a testing
done by Mashable
, the character crashed an iPhone 8 running on iOS 11.2.5. The phone went black upon receiving the text, and loops back to the login screen again. After logging in, the Messages was not functional.
If you do fall
prey to this bug, ask the person who sent the message to try to delete the entire conversation thread. Alternatively, you can delete it from a Mac app or desktop browser.
Fortunately, Apple is
already working on a fix. As reported by Forbes
, a fix for iOS is on the way and it will arrive sooner than the upcoming iOS 11.3 update.
