Some people have taken advantage of unexpected rise of opportunities since KFC announced over 600 store closures in the UK due to a chicken supply shortage.

Despite there being a glut of alternative fried chicken fast food providers on the market, some dedicated KFC fans are apparently decided to start an auction and partake in an online bidding war for a taste of Colonel’s signature fried chicken.

A series of absurd listings have sprouted up on eBay, offering up the famous fried wings, drumsticks and breasts for decidedly exorbitant and borderline obscene prices, for your fix of fried chicken.

One listing reads, “Rare KFC chicken, get hold of a rare KFC bucket complete with chicken while stocks last. Buy now before the chicken runs out.”

One seller offering a KFC 10-piece bargain bucket wrote, “If you’ve got a hankering for the 11 herbs and spices—but your KFC is currently boarded up like it exists in a post-apocalyptic wasteland—bid today for this limited edition, extremely rare bucket of ‘Kentucky Fried’ goodness.”

“Fries not included. Cannot guarantee chicken will be warm on collection,” it added.

Another outrageous listing is going at £65,900 (US$91,890) for a ‘KFC Boneless Banquet’ that includes a load of boneless chicken, some fries, popcorn chicken, and beans.

Currently, hundreds of KFC outlets remain shut or serve limited food options. The disruption to some restaurants is expected to continue until the end of the week, as the new DHL storage hub delivering KFC’s chicken has not yet been approved for legal operations.
