Singapore Media Awards 2009
OMD Singapore hauled home a record of 5 awards. The awards they won for are:
• Best Use of Digital
• Best Use of Television
• Best Experiential Marketing Campaign
• Grand Prix
• Media Agency of the Year
Coming in a close second in the medal tally ranking is Mediacom. Mindshare Singapore and PHD Singapore are tied for the third spot.
Clearly the star campaign of the year, Intel-Dell Swarm has garnered 3 awards. The fact that the idea is now implemented overseas is one of the points that made it stood out; Jacqueline Cheong, Vice President, Marcoms of DHL Express (Singapore) said, “it was a campaign and a concept that was able to reach worldwide, it takes a lot for a campaign in itself, particularly a campaign from Singapore to have that worldwide reach.”On this year’s entries, Lee Mun Ling, Vice President, Marketing Communications of ION Orchard commented that “they articulated their objectives and challenges very well. They also have very innovative media strategies.”
“It is encouraging to know that in these difficult economic times, people are still spending and engaging with the digital media, particularly the social networking sites as well as believing in the word of mouth to market your product” added James Tan, Senior Regional Marketing Communications Manager of Levi Strauss Asia Pacific Division.
Receiving this year’s Young Media Person of the Year Award is Lin Xueting from Mindshare Singapore. Peter Giakoumelos from Discovery Network Asia Pacific took home the Media Sales Person of the Year. There is no Media Person of the Year awarded this year.
Of the 176 entries received this year, 51 were shortlisted and 14 campaign awards were given out.
