Internet at the speed of light? Well, not just yet, but computer chip maker Intel have announced that it had made the first chip that sends and receives information using…light. So when it does hit the market, we’d be able to move and share digital files faster than we can say “Beam me up, Scotty”.

In other sci-fi-sounding tech news, Google and CIA are backing a company that says it can see the future. Using real-time web monitoring to find relationships and patterns between people, organizations and events, Recorded Future claims it can “predict the curve”.

And how about this: a flying car. No, this isn’t Back To The Future’s Delorean, but an actual car that can lift-off, developed by a company that wants to make flying cars a reality.

So we have machines at the speed of light, machines that predict the future, and flying cars. What’s next—time travel?
