The recent Facebook Places however, has yet to fully capitalize on those elements of fun and competition. Co-founder of Foursquare Dennis Crowley has described the function as "boring" because of its lack of check-in incentives that Foursquare is famed for.
Keeping in mind the vested interests involved in such disparaging comments and comparisons, Mashable polls its readers on the Foursquare and Facebook location face-off. Garnering 56% of the 1,600 votes so far, Foursquare appears to be in the lead, for now.
