The iPad may be the device of choice for eBooks but users are still more likely to purchase titles from Amazon than iTunes.
Apple may be earning more from the sale of its device but Amazon has an edge over its competitor in terms of the price and availability of eBooks.
Cellan-Jones of BBC suggests that the publishing industry should "focus on Amazon, not Apple" because Amazon's business strategy for Kindle aims to generate most of its profits from the sale of eBooks, especially as they can be read on the popular Apple devices as well.
