Why is technology addictive? Is it bad that it is? We’ve seen reports over the past few days with signs pointing to ‘Yes’, but a Lifehacker piece demonstrates just how. Information overload, terrible etiquette, video game addiction—these are three main problems identified in the article.

If anything, just ask the Japanese. There’s actually an entire resort in a Japanese beach town catering to men and their virtual girlfriends. The computer-generated lovers in question are part of a dating simulation game, Love Plus; and thanks to augmented reality, these girls are brought to life in the resort, and on their iPhones.
