So what exactly is 'art'? Much of pop culture have been denied this status because they been derided as ‘mindless’ commercial enterprises. Video games too have similarly been disregarded as art for these same reasons as well. Scott Steinberg of CNN argues that well-made video games can even unite “the aesthetic grace” of traditional art mediums through their elaborate plots, visuals and soundtrack.
Still unconvinced that video games have artistic merit? Here's some food for thought: films were once considered as mere entertainment. If film can be considered as art, why not video games too?
