D&AD Global Awards 2007 Opens for Entries
BY D&AD

The opportunity for the world’s outstanding creative talent to shine has arrived with the launch of the D&AD Global Awards 2007 Call for Entries.

Now in their 45th year, the awards span all areas of commercial creativity, from the traditional advertising and design disciplines, to ambient, interactive, gaming, music videos and emerging online categories.

Widely considered the world’s toughest award to win, the Yellow Pencil is the global symbol of creative excellence. In 2006, 24,500 pieces of work from 61 countries were entered. Judges considered only 52 entries worthy of winning a coveted Yellow Pencil, and only 2 entries were awarded a D&AD Black Pencil in recognition of work that is truly outstanding.

In order to win, work has to meet D&AD’s three trademark criteria: A great idea, well executed, and appropriate to medium and message. Two out of three isn’t good enough. Three out of three and your work is in with a chance. Win a pencil, and your talent is beyond question. Judged by the world’s leading creative practitioners, the D&AD Global Awards stand firm as the one true marker of creative excellence. And don’t forget - as a non-profit making charity, D&AD also aims to ensure future pencil winners around the world receive the opportunities, training and education they need to give their talent a chance.

The judging panel for the D&AD Global Awards 2007 will include over 300 leading practitioners from across the globe. Whatever discipline, D&AD guarantees that entries will be judged by the best in the world.

This year’s line-up of foremen is both formidable and inspiring. From John Jay (Wieden+Kennedy New York) in Integrated and Chris Colborn (R/GA) in Websites, to past D&AD Presidents John Hegarty, Michael Johnson, Martin Lambie-Nairn, and Michael Wolff.

As always, work that impresses the judges will feature in The D&AD Annual - the ultimate visual record of the year’s best work and a benchmark of creative excellence. Available exclusively to D&AD members, the Annual and its accompanying Showreel is acknowledged as the definitive reference book for creative practitioners around the world.
