Bible for the diehard movieholics
BY Alex

Are you a movieholic?

The power of cinema, be it a Hollywood blockbuster or an art-house short, is overwhelming. Spend 90 minutes in the dark with what a director and his crew may have taken months to put together, pouring all their talent and energy into what you see up on the screen, and you will be hooked. So much so that a new breed of addict is emerging - the movieholic. Trailers, opening titles, DVD/VCD formats, director's cuts, prolonged versions - the movieholic devours them all.

Latest issue of IdN's Flips magazine: #8 Moview, a complete overview of all aspects of the contemporary movie scene. The publication comes with a DVD, comprising many stunning moving images and motion graphics from our contributors, allowing readers to see at first-hand the work of, as well as read the views of, their favourite movie-makers.

This issue divided into 5 sections:

HOUSE 1: DRAMA - Almost all movies could be categorised as drama. A film in which the performance of the actors, and the emotions they portray, are the paramount elements.

HOUSE 2: FANTASY - Fantasy film often involve a battle between the forces of human nature and Mother Nature and are invariably inspirational in terms of showing characters striving to achieve a dream or a goal.

HOUSE 3: SCI-FI - Sci-Fi stands for science fiction and is among the most versatile genres of writing. It can encompass a romance, a comedy, a war story, a drama, a mystery - even a Western.

HOUSE 4: DOCUMETARY - Any home video could be categorised as a documentary, the documentary being a non-fiction film depicting real life situations, usually with individuals describing their feelings and experiences.

HOUSE 5: EXPERIMENTAL – The word "experimental" doesn't only carry technical implications - it can refer to the spirit in which the film is made.
