School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents "Portrait of an Artist/Teacher," features a variety of media by graduating students in the MAT Art Education Department. Curated by faculty member Michael Filan, their work addresses the challenges of being a teacher and preserving their own devotion to being artists themselves.
Curator Michael Filan explains:
"During the Advanced Studio Art course, Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) students have explored the creative process to the fullest, synthesizing their feelings and thoughts about becoming teachers, and reconnecting with their art-making practice. Their desire to share their love of art with each other, and by extension the children they will teach, was obvious in the class critiques. The artwork they created reflects the core values of our Master's program in art education: diversity, creativity and generosity."
