The huge success that the red dot award: product design was able to record this year, is also reflected by the high public interest in the four-week long special exhibition "Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2007" at the red dot design museum. For this reason the special exhibition is now being extended until the 5th of August.
Altogether 666 excellent products, of which 43 have the red dot: best of the best for outstanding design performance, can be admired in the exhibition. The range of the products on show is enormous: from sports cars via High-Tech televisions and furniture right through to medical equipment - the special exhibition at the red dot design museum shows the most innovative and best design in the world.
A highlight of the exhibition is the presentation of the Design Team of the year 2007. Appearing under the name "BMW Group Design", the design team of the year are presenting their products at their own exhibit within the framework of the special exhibition. Amongst other things, the BMW X Coupé Concept Car awaits the visitor here, as well as lots of interesting information on the company's philosophy.
The opening of the special exhibition "Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2007" took place on the evening of the awards ceremony with guests from all over the world. Every single visitor was enthusiastic about the exhibition: "That's really very impressive - I've never seen such a wide range of products with such high design quality in an exhibition!", said a delighted visitor from Great Britain. A guest from Korea agreed: "The best design, the most innovative products - and all this in the breathtaking scenery of a UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage Site, the former Zollverein colliery. A really spectacular experience!".
Also very pleased was Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder of the red dot design award and president of the international umbrella organisation of industrial designers, Icsid: "This year the quality standard of the products exhibited was higher than ever before. The designers have achieved wonders, and I am proud to have the opportunity along with red dot, to give due recognition to these outstanding achievements and to show them to the public."
