HOLLAND, MI - Haworth, Inc's. second annual sustainability report reasserts the company's pledge to reduce its environmental impact worldwide on its journey to becoming a truly sustainable enterprise.
Released in first quarter 2007, this is Haworth's second consecutive sustainability statement highlighting recent milestones and long-term goals. The report includes data from 2005-2006 for Haworth and Groupe Lacasse manufacturing sites and North American corporate offices, excluding showrooms and independently owned Haworth dealerships.
The sustainability report - a complete copy is available on Haworth's web site which summarizes the Haworth's ongoing efforts to eliminate emissions, reduce water usage and incorporate more renewable energy sources into its operations. Among these efforts are Haworth's purchase of Green-e certified wind energy credits to offset the energy consumed in manufacturing its popular Zody seating and Haworth's membership in the EPA Climate Leaders program, with a commitment to reduce its U.S. Greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent per dollar sales by 2009.
Reducing waste, emissions and dependence on non-renewable fuels are only a part of Haworth's sustainability agenda. The company also is championing the concept of adaptable workspaces and creating the products and processes designed to drive waste out of building and support healthier, more sustainable business environments.
Haworth's adaptable workspace strategy and related products are also featured in the company's Chicago showroom for NeoCon 2007. Haworth's Chicago space is the first and presently the only LEED®-CI (Commercial Interiors) Gold Certified showroom in the Merchandise Mart. The 2007 showroom features a sustainability lab that demonstrates best practices in modular construction - clean, quiet, safe, healthy and fast processes by expert technicians that can be engineered with predictable costs and schedule. With Haworth showrooms demonstrating "what" the company can do, the sustainability lab demonstrates "how" we do it.
