The Art History and BFA Fine Arts Departments present a lecture by German-born, New York-based artist David Humphrey. Humphrey has long been interested in the intersection of desire and consumerism in middle-class America. At times both humorous and disturbing, his work employs vernacular imagery drawn from the ephemera of American consumer culture. As a painter and sculptor, his repertoire of cutesy, kitschy images often features poodle figurines, pairs of fuzzy puppies and kittens, and puffs of snow.
