Keep calm because even if the paintings of Ian Francis often display an end-of-the-world-feel, he's none of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He is an exceptional artist from Bristol who has his first solo exhibition in the United States at BLK/MRKT Gallery.
For this exhibition August 4th - August 25th, 2007 he has translated his work, which simultaneously evoke the lost, the found, the nostalgic and the contemporary, into the medium of paint.
Ian Francis, who is also contributing to the forthcoming BLK/MRKT Two (Out in September) says: "The sometimes apocalyptic feel of my work comes from the combination of the fact, that we're probably the safest and wealthiest we've ever been against both the mass media sense of impending doom and also the fact that a potential world resource shortage could realistically mean that we won't be living this lifestyle for that much longer."
Super Coma Fantasy is about the development of his visionary technique and the maturation of his vision that exploits his own hopeful love of poetic and serious fine art. Nightmares never looked better.
