COMPETITION
Since its inauguration in 2002, the Taiwan International Design Competition has existed as one of the most prestigious and authoritative design competitions in Asia. It is a futuristic product design competition open to designers worldwide. The competition was set up to encourage the design interactions and culture exchange internationally. Moreover, it is also aimed at illuminating the designers' social responsibility with regards to design. Incorporating with the essence of oriental philosophy, the theme of the competition is carefully chosen every year. Themes previously selected include Balance (2004), Experience (2005) and Nomad (2006). The Taiwan International Design Competition invites designers to re-consider our everyday objects in a broader perspective and to create a better design shaping our future.
This year's theme for the competition is: Amusement. The competition is open to designers from Taiwan and abroad, teachers and students of design schools and freelance designers. Participants may enter as individuals or as a group and there is no limit to the number of submissions. Registration is free!
Award Categories and Prize Money
The Gold award winner will receive NT$500,000 with the Silver and Bronze winner taking home NT$200,000 and NT$100,000 respectively. In addition to the main prizes, there are also special awards and honourable mentions.
