COMPETITION
With its commitment to strengthen the international design exchange and collaboration, encourage the pioneering local enterprises, and give impetus to the development of design industry in Dongguan City and China at large, the Dongguan Cup for Industrial design, initiated by the Dongguan Municipal Government, calls for excellent entries from individual industrial designers and local enterprises on worldwide basis.
The competition is now open and will run through April 2008. The deadline for submissions of designs is July 15, 2007. The competition is open to designers and design students, however applications from design teams will not be accepted. Designers from around the world can take part in the competition.
The competition is also open to enterprises, but they MUST be located in Dongguan. All entry projects are required to have been produced since April 2005, supported by documents from the respective manufacturing enterprises.
The prize money is broken down as follows:
Gold award - RMB 30,000
Silver Award - RMB 20,000
Bronze Award - RMB 10,000
RMB1,000,000 (US$750,000) (RMB135,000 for model making and RMB225,000 for European Design Exchange Programme)
