Motorola Enhances Volunteer Phone System with $50,000 Donation
Upgrades Required Due to Volunteer Response to Katrina

WASHINGTON — Motorola, Inc. (MOT) has donated $50,000 to the Points of Light Foundation to upgrade its 1-800-Volunteer Telephone Service due to the overwhelming response from people wishing to volunteer with Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. 1-800-Volunteer.org, a national telephone and online network, is the official registry for volunteers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

The enhancements to the system include: disaster response, local level connectivity and reporting and administration.

"This timely contribution from Motorola will enable Volunteer Centers to mobilize better in times of disaster," said Robert K. Goodwin, president and CEO of the Points of Light Foundation. "The new system will allow for promotion and call routing during emergencies and will provide a foundation for future telephone advances."
