Branding Culture from the Inside-Out
Andrew Blauvelt, Design Director

Andrew Blauvelt will discuss the development of the Walker's innovative new graphic identity launched on the occasion of its recent building expansion as well as other major branding exercises for Walker programs. He will discuss how his in-house team has created a collaborative model for its critically acclaimed work.
Blauvelt has been Design Director at the Walker Art Center since 1998, where he serves as creative director for communications and recently added curator of architecture and design to his title. A practicing graphic designer since 1986, Blauvelt is the recipient of more than 100 design awards including numerous nominations for the Chrysler Award for Design Innovation and the National Design Awards in Communication Design.
The Walker Art Center identity was recently featured in the book c/id: Cultural Identity (Laurence King), an international survey of the best cultural institutional branding. Blauvelt has lectured and exhibited in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
