Los Angeles, Calif. - The International Photography Awards (IPA) announced that Dr. Anthony Bannon, the 7th Director of George Eastman House, has curated the Best of Show, 2007 for the Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards Competition. Dr. Bannon is a renowned critic, filmmaker, educator and award winning author.
Making this announcement, Hossein Farmani, founder of the IPA, commented, "We are so fortunate to have a curator of this caliber selecting this year's the Best of Show from the 5th Annual IPA competition. I have the ultimate respect for Tony, his vision and his remarkable contributions to contemporary photography. This is an exciting moment for the IPA!"
Describing the selection process, Dr. Bannon added "I looked for those pictures ready to embrace change, and lead me toward notions I found unsettling, in one way or another. So here it is; these are the pictures that I hope we can remember, each a lesson of earnest vision and clear thinking; fine experiences the likes of which are just a little bit different from those I had previously experienced with pictures. That was my search, looking for the Lucie I hadn't experienced before, possessed of those unique attributes that makes art - and experience - special."
