This is your chance to find out about Dott 07, a year of community projects, events and exhibitions that explore what life in a sustainable region could be like - and how design can help you get there. Come along, join in and be inspired.
When you arrive, pick up a Dott lanyard, get it stamped in each zone and bag yourself a free Dott 07 Manual (cover price £10), written by John Thackara. Stocks are limited, so it will be first come first served.
Welcomes Zone
Tees Valley have been busy working on the theme of 'welcoming'. Results have been translated into an eclectic mix of short films, photographs and written texts that reflect the thoughts, ideas and creativity of the people and the communities taking part. See the responses and add your own thoughts too.
Energy Zone
Energy!The Energy Zone aims to provide some answers to this urgent question. Find out what happened in Low Carb Lane. And look at what alternative energy might look like in the future.
Schools Zone
Buzzing with free workshops for school pupils and things-to-do for all the family. There's a designated Activity Area that will host a fantastic programme of events centered on the results of the Eco Design Challenge. Grab a taster of the future of schools with the OurNewSchool project, based at Walker Technology College.
Food Zone
The Urban Farming project presented the community of Middlesbrough with the challenge of growing vegetables in previously unused green spaces in the city. The response was astounding. In a dramatic finale the growers enjoyed a fabulous town meal. Come and hear the stories and see an easy approach to sustainable food.
Movement Zone
Can transport and tourism ever be sustainable? Come and find out results of four exciting projects: Move Me, Sustainable Tourism, Mapping the Necklace and New Work. There's also an opportunity to stay in the world's first eco-friendly urban campsite during the festival. Book your place now.
Health Zone
Can design help with the common challenges faced by people during their journeys through dementia.
Alzheimer100 investigated.Design and Sexual Health (DaSH) took design actions to make sexual health services easier to access and use in Gateshead.
Vital Signs
Town Crying - Storytelling as a design output.
Landscape/Portrait - Does your postcode define who you are? Come and play with the fantastic Memory Mirror. Memory Mirror was one of three commissions by Dott 07 for Picture House at Belsay Hall.
Departure Lounge and DE07
Enjoy a taste of Design Event 07, an annual festival of cutting edge work by regional, national and international design talent. Find out about their full programme (11 - 28 October). Finally rest, recover and grab a light refreshment in the departure lounge, before popping to the Dott Shop.
