Book of Kells: Creation, Function, Context

The Book of Kells, the book of the first four Gospels created by 8th-century Irish monks, fascinates visitors to Trinity College Dublin.
The intricately and colorfully illuminated book is the most elaborate manuscript of its kind to survive from the early Middle Ages.
Come learn about the creation, function and context of this touchstone of Irish culture and heritage at the Irish Center in Union Station. Joanna Carraway, medieval specialist at Rockhurst University, will present a visual history of this icon of Medieval History, Art, and Religion.
