HP announced that the Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation has made a grant of $2 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the Southern California wildfires.
Additionally, up to $3 million more could be provided through a combination of employee donations and matching grants by the foundation.
“HP and its people have a long history of supporting those in need and we are pleased that the Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation is designating relief to the American Red Cross,” said Mark Hurd, chief executive officer and chairman, HP. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this devastation.”
HP has more than 2,000 employees based in the San Diego area, with an 80-acre site in surrounding Rancho Bernardo.
“The American Red Cross is working around the clock to provide support to the victims of the California wildfires,” said Mark W. Everson, president and chief executive officer, American Red Cross. “We are grateful for the contributions and support from the Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation and HP employees around the world that make this level of service possible through their kind donations.”
The Red Cross is urging wildfire victims or endangered residents to call the Red Cross Hotline at +1 866 GET INFO for disaster assistance, shelter locations, information on affected areas and wildfire safety information, or to contact their local Red Cross chapter at www.redcross.org.
The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to respond to thousands of disasters like the California wildfires across the country each year.
