Hamburg/Stuttgart. The Porsche Design P'9611 Navigator is now available for 795 Euro including VAT in Porsche Design Stores, from retailers and online from Navigon. Navigon AG, a navigation-systems software manufacturer based in Hamburg, and the Porsche Design Group jointly developed the device and unveiled it to the public at the International Consumer Electronics Trade Show (IFA) 2006 in Berlin.
In heavy traffic, the integrated TMC function (Traffic Message Channel) on the P'9611 automatically offers the driver alternative routes that bypass the jams or holdups. In multi-lane traffic, the lane assistant developed by Navigon alerts the driver in good time to which lane is best for the route he or she is taking. What’s more, the “Reality View” function provides an authentic depiction of the route on the display screen. The navigator’s instruction volume is automatically adjusted in accordance with vehicle speed and, by extension, vehicle noise. While in the fast lane the instructions are louder, in inner-city stop-start traffic they are quieter.
As well as an ultra sensitive GPS receiver, the navigator is equipped with a high-performance Bluetooth hands-free device. It also has a tried-and-tested dual audio system, not only in the device itself but also in its mount. The navigator contains digital maps of 38 European countries and over two million special destinations are integrated with extensive additional information, for example about restaurants and accommodation.
