Brickbottom Champagne Reception and Directory Art Exhibition
Open Studios Preview Exhibition and Reception where Massachusetts Cultural Council presents the Gold Star Award to the Brickbottom Gallery for innovative and creative programming
The press and public are invited to the Brickbottom gallery on October 30th from 7-9pm for an opening reception of the Directory Exhibition Show.
The event will feature the Massachusetts Cultural Council's presentation of the Gold Star Award to the Brickbottom Gallery for its innovative and creative programming. The award recognizes the work of the Somerville Arts Council, Brickbottom Artists Association and gallery curator Debra Olin.
On hand for the award ceremony will be representatives from the MCC, the Somerville Arts Council, the Mayor's Office of the City of Somerville, as well as noted artists.
The Directory Exhibition Show, which runs until November 20th, samples the artwork of over 100 artists who will participate in this year's Brickbottom Open Studios.
Brickbottom's 18th annual Open Studios will be held November 19th and 20th from 12-6pm at the Brickbottom Artists Building and the studios at 86 Joy Street.
The Brickbottom Gallery has played an important role in the growth and expansion of Somerville's burgeoning contemporary art scene. As a unique arts venue, it has presented hundreds of artists' work - both prominent and unknown. Many local artists who may otherwise never had the opportunity to present their work in a professional gallery setting have benefited from the Brickbottom Gallery.
The Brickbottom Gallery's success and longevity stems from the dedication and vision of members of the Brickbottom community. A unique mix of 100 workspaces and living lofts, the Brickbottom Artists Building includes both artists and non-artist residents.
