Boulogne-Billancourt, - Clear Channel France has just won the contract of bike service of Caen, regional capital of Basse-Normandie, in France ( 120 000 inhab.).
This contract applies to the installation of 300 bikes and 35 stations in spring 2008. This 10-year contract plans an extension up to 550 bikes and 50 stations.
Available 24/7, the service to the inhabitants of Caen is an optimized system : an exclusive bike with a light weight (18kg), which is characterized by its handling ability, its change of gears and its automatic light system. The users will pay an annual subscription lower than 20€ and the first half-hour will be free.
To subscribe, 3 possibilities are proposed : by Internet, by post or by phone (toll free number). For the users without any subscription, a direct access will be possible with a credit card via internet on mobile (wap).
"After our success in Dijon, the win of the bike service of Caen confirms that Clear Channel France is the real alternative for the cities which want to launch such a service." said Hubert JANVIER, Regional President - Southern Europe of Clear Channel Outdoor.
"It's a system thought by and for the users, which is suitable to all the cities and has proved its efficiency in many main cities in Europe", he added.
From the origins of the bike service in Rennes in 1998, Clear Channel still worldwide develops this kind of pleasant way of travelling and particularly in Oslo, Drammen, Trondheim (Norway), Stockholm, Göteborg (Sweden) and Barcelona (Spain).
In 2008, it will be the turn of Washington D.C. to be equipped with the bike service of Clear Channel Outdoor, thus it will be the first city of the USA to install a bike service system. Clear Channel Outdoor has recently won the San Francisco street furniture tender with an option for a bike service system.
