WTC Freedom Tower Architecture to be unveiled on Friday
New York -- On Friday, December 19, Governor Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg will host the unveiling of the design of the Freedom Tower in a presentation by architects David Childs and Daniel Libeskind and developer Larry Silverstein. The idea of creating the world's tallest tower was proposed by Libeskind in his plan for the World Trade Center site, Memory Foundations, and given form by design architect David Childs of Skidmore Owings and Merrill.

As Libeskind proposed, it will soar 1,776 feet in the sky, culminating in a spire that evokes another great symbol of our nation's commitment to freedom - the Statue of Liberty. And as Childs proposed, it will incorporate innovative cable technology, adhere to the highest standards of safety and security, and generate much of its own electricity.

Thanks to an often spirited design effort between Childs and Libeskind, the Freedom Tower will rise as a new symbol of our nation's strength and resilience in the aftermath of terror.

The presentation will take place Friday morning at Federal Hall in Lower Manhattan.
