Center Valley, PA,- Olympus, a precision technology leader creating innovative opto-digital solutions in healthcare, life science and consumer electronics products, announced that it has appointed Pamela Thompson as vice president of human resources for Olympus America Inc.
Ms. Thompson will utilize her 20 year-career leadership skills in human resources to lead the learning and development efforts on behalf of the 2,300 employees of Olympus in the Americas.
“After a comprehensive search to identify the right leader to grow and develop our team, we are excited to have Pam on board. Her appointment supports our long-standing efforts to build the best organization possible,” said F. Mark Gumz, president and chief operating officer, Olympus America Inc.

Ms. Thompson is a human resources generalist and organizational development specialist who brings to Olympus expertise in corporate culture change and maximization of human capital, among other critical skills.
She has gained experience primarily in the pharmaceuticals, precision medical devices, biotechnology, and financial services industries and has led human resources operations across multi-site, multi-facility and multi-national organizations.

While overseeing the entire human resources discipline for the company, Ms. Thompson will also manage several partnerships that the company has established, including one with the Gallup Organization, to assist Olympus in driving organizational development and performance.
Ms. Thompson joins Olympus from Tandem Labs, where she was the vice president of human resources for this bioanalytical and immunoanalytical contract research organization and led all human resource-related functions and initiatives.
Prior to that, she was a vice president of human resources for Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, a $2 billion, 3,500-employee U.S. division of an Israeli-headquartered generic pharmaceuticals firm.
She has also held increasingly senior human resource-related positions with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a $13 billion international branded pharmaceuticals group; with Mallinckrodt, Inc., the $3 billion global medical device, equipment and pharmaceutical manufacturer; with Becton Dickinson & Co., as well as with United Missouri Banks.
Ms. Thompson earned an M.A. degree in Human Resource Development with distinction, and a B.A. degree in Business , Summa cum Laude, from Webster University in St. Louis. She also received a Certification in Executive Coaching from the College of Executive Coaching.
She maintains professional affiliations with the Society of Human Resource Management, the Greater Philadelphia human resources Planning Group and the International Coaching Federation, among other organizations.
