Seoul, Korea, – The Board of Directors at LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, announced the appointment of new executives including three high-level officers, effective January 1, 2008. Partial management changes at LG Electronics include appointments of a new CTO, CFO and CPO (New position), one President, six Executive Vice Presidents and 32 Vice Presidents.
These appointments signify LG’s efforts to take their business to the next level by becoming a more achievement-oriented organization. In recruiting these new executives, LG looked both domestically and internationally to identify leaders that can help it deliver on its global promise.
These aggressive moves at LG are most apparent in the appointments of “C-suite” executives, which include Dr. Woo Paik (currently Chief Technology Advisor) as Chief Technology Officer, succeeding Dr. Hee-Gook Lee, who will be transferred to Siltron, an affiliate company, as CEO; Mr. Do Hyun Jung (currently head of Finance Team of LG Corp.) as Chief Finance Officer; and Mr. Thomas K. Linton (currently Vice President and CPO of Freescale Semiconductor) as Chief Procurement Officer, which is a new position at LG.
Mr. Linton will establish a company-wide purchasing strategy and system and redesign processes by adopting advanced practices and reinforcing staffing.
Mr. Linton formerly served as the CPO at Agere Systems Inc., and has also worked for E2OPEN LLC and IBM. LG earlier appointed Mr. Dermot Boden, formerly head of Pfizer Inc.’s Northeast Asia Region, as its Chief Marketing Officer.
The company will continue to recruit global top talent, whether Korean or non-Korean.
LG also appointed Mr. Young Woo Nam as President and CEO, Asia and six new Executive Vice President-level executives, including Mr. Dae Hyun Song as head of LG Electronics Tianjin, China; Mr. Woo Young Kwak as head of Mobile Handset R&D Center; Mr. Jung Jun Lee as head of Mobile Communications New Business Development Team; Mr. Weon Bog Bae as head of Corporate Design Center; and Mr. O Joon Kwon as head of Legal Team, Mr. Sung Ha Cho as head of Mobile Communications Korea Business Division.
Meanwhile, the company reorganized its global structure into eight Regional Companies: Korea, North America, Central & Southern America (combines currently Brazil and Central & Southern America), Asia (combines currently East & Southern Asia and West & Southern Asia), Europe, CIS, China, and Middle East & Africa.
