December 2007
Month of November likewise at an all-time high, with 534,900 vehicle deliveries and a growth of 8.2 per cent
From January to November of this year, the Volkswagen Group delivered 5.68 million vehicles to customers around the world, thus setting a new sales record for the period. This denotes an increase of 8.5 per cent against the figure for the first eleven months of the previous year.
An all-time high was also recorded for November, with 534,900 vehicle deliveries and a growth of 8.2 per cent against the figure for November 2006.
"This result confirms that we are on the right course with our eight brands and our unequalled, extensive range of products," says Prof Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the Volkswagen board of management.
"In the first eleven months of the year alone, we were able to deliver as many vehicles to customers as we did over the entire course of the previous year." The CEO added that the goal to deliver six million vehicles per annum had thus been largely met even now.
Group sales from January to November 2007 in Europe rose by 2.7 per cent to 3.31 million vehicles, 2.87 million of them in western Europe (plus 0.4 per cent).
This more than compensated for the 4.1 per cent decline in Germany, the largest single market, where 963,300 vehicles were delivered. In central and eastern Europe, customers purchased 448,700 vehicles from the VW Group, denoting a growth of 20.3 per cent.
The Volkswagen Group delivered 974,100 vehicles in the Asia Pacific region, 26.4 per cent more than in the first eleven months of last year. Of this figure, 845,400 vehicles were sold to customers in China alone, i.e. 30.7 per cent more than last year.
The Volkswagen Group also recorded positive sales trends in the Americas. Deliveries in South America rose by 31.1 per cent to 677,700 vehicles, of which 529,100 went to Brazil (plus 34 per cent).
In North America, 481,100 vehicles were sold, a rise of 0.3 per cent. Of this figure, 299,800 vehicles were sold in the USA (plus 0.7 per cent).
The Volkswagen brand, the largest-volume member of the Group, delivered 3.37 million vehicles to customers throughout the world from January to November of this year, 8.8 per cent more than in the same period last year.
Audi sold 893,600 vehicles, also denoting a strong growth of 7.3 per cent. Škoda significantly increased sales by 13.1 per cent to 572,200 deliveries. Seat achieved 389,200 sales (minus 1.3 per cent), Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles significantly increased sales by 12.1 per cent to 444,700 vehicles. Contributions to the new sales record were also made by Bentley with 9,304 deliveries (plus 13.4 per cent) and Lamborghini with 2,269 vehicles (plus 21.4 per cent).
Bugatti delivered 70 vehicles, thereby achieving a growth of 89 per cent.
