Her graphic prints and eye-catching use of colour were a hit at London Fashion Week in September and with a CV that reads like a Who's Who of fashion (Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Jade Jagger...), Olivia Rubin is set for big things.
"I like a print that stands out," explains the 25-year-old, British born designer, who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2006 and was short-listed for the semi-final of the Fashion Fringe 2007.
"I design clothes for the individual, someone who wants to be seen and make a statement."
Featuring an instantly recognisable black and white brick pattern and a neon Battenberg colour palette, Rubin's spring/summer 2008 collection certainly makes an impact and, she tells us, is all about redefining glamour in a modern way.
"I like to mix it up. My influences come from work wear - the builder - combined with Eighties bright colour. It's an eclectic mix, laidback, sexy yet androgynous."
Chiffon playsuits and silk jersey separates with big buckles and heavy detailing feature alongside sleeve tie shirtdresses, linen jackets and Rubin's favourite - and what is sure to become a classic - the brick print dress.
"I'm going to bring the print back again for next season but reinvent it. I'll also be introducing more prints, mixing feminine styles with masculine details," she explains. Watch this space.
