Aalst
Brisbane Powerhouse
29 Jan - 3 Feb 2008
Direct from a successful season in London comes this highly acclaimed production based on the murder of two children by their parents in 1999 in the small Belgian industrial town of Aalst.
In a town best known for its sugar factory and three-day post-Christmas carnival, a young couple check into a dingy hotel with their two small children. A week later the police make an appalling discovery.
A woman and her husband sit side by side before microphones. A disembodied voice interrogates them
about their lives and crimes.
In Australia for strictly limited seasons at Brisbane Powerhouse, Sydney Festival and Perth International Arts Festival, Aalst is a complex, courageous and compelling piece of modern theatre not to be missed.
