Rijksmuseum takes Rembrandt on tour in U.S. and China
On 22 September 2006, the exhibition Rembrandt and the Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum opened in the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio in the United States. The exhibition was put together by the Rijksmuseum and consists of over 100 paintings and other works of art, including several works by Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Ruisdael and Frans Hals. This is the first time that an exhibition of this size containing artworks from the Rijksmuseum collection has been shown in the United States.
The exhibition Rembrandt and the Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum toured the Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio (30 September 2006 - 7 January 2007), the Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona (27 January - 6 May 2007), and the Portland Art Museum in Portland, Oregon (26 May - 16 September 2007). From 2 November 2007 untill 13 February 2008, (part of) the exhibition is on view in the Shanghai Museum in China.
