WARSAW, Poland, - ProLogis, the world's largest owner, manager and developer of distribution facilities, announced that it signed new agreements during the fourth quarter of 2007 to develop and lease more than 1.1 million square feet (102,000 square meters) of industrial space in Poland.
"Leasing and development activity across Poland continues to be exceptional," said Michael de Jong-Douglas, managing director for ProLogis in central and eastern Europe.
"The country has emerged as a truly dynamic location for manufacturing and distribution and is one of the fastest growing markets for ProLogis in Europe. With a large population, strong economy and low cost of labor, Poland has proven to be an important component of customers' local and regional logistics operations."
ProLogis signed new lease agreements in every major logistics region in Poland.
Among the transactions are:
Vobis is expanding its business operations and will use the new warehouse to enhance the efficiency of its distribution network.
The rail-linked location serves as Fiege's primary distribution center for western, central and eastern Europe.
As of December 31, 2007, ProLogis' platform in Poland totaled more than 18.5 million square feet (1.72 million square meters) of industrial space owned, managed or under development.
