Instant Gratification: Faster Sprint Mobile Broadband Expands in Empire State
PRESS RELEASE

February 2008

Whether you are a horse race aficionado, a concert fan or a visitor, customers in Saratoga, New York can now do more with wireless thanks to a faster mobile broadband network from Sprint.

Sprint Mobile Broadband with EV-DO (Evolution - Data Optimized) Revision (Rev.) A technology, combined with a wide variety of EV-DO Rev. A-capable devices, allow customers to send and receive e-mail with large file attachments, access the Internet in seconds and enjoy streaming video and other real-time applications, as well as location-based solutions, on the go.

"With the expansion of EV-DO Rev. A network capabilities, Sprint customers in New York State can surf the net, manage e-mail and enjoy mobile entertainment features at 'SprintSpeed' while on the run," said Karen Paletta, area vice president for Sprint. "In addition to the $31.8 million that Sprint invested in the Capital District between 2006 and June of 2007, Sprint expects to continue to invest to further enhance its networks and meet the demand for extensive mobile broadband coverage across the nation."

During 2007, Sprint enhanced EV-DO Rev A mobile broadband coverage to 194 sites and added 23 new sites in the Capital District area. The vast majority of the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network has been upgraded to faster EV-DO Rev. A technology.

Sprint Mobile Broadband is also available throughout New York State in areas including New York City, Poughkeepsie, Albany, Schenectady, Utica, Syracuse, Oswego, Fulton, Watertown, Ithaca, Cortland, Binghamton, Oneonta, Cooperstown, Norwich, Gloversville, Elmira, Lake Placid, Glens Falls, Plattsburgh, Rochester and Buffalo.

On average, customers using EV-DO Rev. A experience significantly faster upload speeds of 350-500 Kbps (compared with 50-70 Kbps on existing EV-DO Rev. 0 networks) and download speeds of 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps (up from 400-700 Kbps) on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network. To compare EV-DO Rev. A speeds against the speed of their current connection, Internet users can visit www.sprint.com/speedtest.

Current and prospective customers can view coverage maps using the Sprint Coverage Tool, which is available at www.sprint.com/coverage and at self-service touch-screen kiosks at many Sprint Nextel retail stores. The tool equips customers with knowledge about network coverage in the areas where they live, work and play, and helps them make informed decisions regarding services from Sprint.
