At the Mobile World Conference (Barcelona, Spain: 11-14 February) GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms and Qosmos will demonstrate a Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) solution based on the GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms Telum™ NPA-38x4 Packet Processor AdvancedMC hardware platform and the Qosmos Qoala™ DPI software. The demonstration can be found at the GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms booth (2G08).
“One of the most important challenges facing service providers moving to IP infrastructure networks is how to develop a superior understanding of real network usage to improve service, maximize security, identify product opportunities - and create new revenue streams,” said Rubin Dhillon, Global Product Manager of Communications Product Management at GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. “Our demonstration shows how that can be achieved using a powerful Telum Packet Processor and MP Series MicroTCA hardware platform combined with Qosmos’ sophisticated Information Extraction and Deep Packet Inspection software.”
“We are pleased to be working with GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms to show how the combination of leading edge hardware with our unique software can enable software vendors, network equipment manufacturers and system integrators to develop and deploy powerful and revenue-generating solutions,” said Gautier Harmel, Marketing Director of Qosmos. “Understanding customer behavior is vital for service providers, and Qoala allows them to do that.”
Designed to fulfill the requirements of demanding applications such as real-time IP packet classification, policy enforcement and data retention, the Telum Packet Processor enables secure, high-speed connectivity and complex security processing for content-aware applications that need multi-gigabit wire speed performance. At its heart is a high performance Cavium OCTEON™ multi-core processor, enabling the Telum Packet Processor board to deliver up to 4Gbits/second wire rate packet processing for Layers 3-7.
Qosmos Qoala is a Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows the extraction of critical information from IP traffic at wire speed, in order to perform in-depth analysis of network traffic performance, security insights, and application usage. Its Information Extraction and DPI features extend beyond simple protocol and application signatures to include enhanced behavioral session management and real-time content extraction important to services such as data leak prevention, audience measurement, 3G service usage analysis, customer service management, intercept applications, business application monitoring, policy enforcement applications, and content-based billing systems.
