On the heels of its recent announcement to enable a complete mobile WiMAX handset reference platform through its technology partnership with EB (Elektrobit), NextWave Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ: WAVE), a global provider of mobile multimedia and wireless broadband technologies, announced a strategic expansion of its ecosystem to enable "no compromise" end-to-end mobile WiMAX solutions.
Extending its ecosystem to drive WiMAX market innovation, NextWave Wireless and its partners closely collaborated on the development of a handset reference design, and will enable the creation of even more innovative products. The goal of NextWave's ecosystem development initiative is to ensure device manufacturers have ready-access to proven technology that work seamlessly with NextWave's 4G chipsets. This approach accelerates time-to-market and enables richer, more innovative products to proliferate. Within the ecosystem, NextWave Wireless offers its own WiMAX baseband SoC and matched multi-band RFIC (radio frequency integrated circuit).
